This year, Facebook bought Instagram for $1 billion even though Instagram had never made a dime in ad revenue. The company announced a new terms of use to help bring in more revenue. The fine print says you agree that a business or other entity may pay Instagram to display your likeness or photo without compensation to you. Millions of users flooded Facebook and Instagram with their 2 cents. In believing that Instagram and Facebook were changing the rules without their input.

“Wow…I just read over Instagram’s new policy…so sad, looks like I might be deleting my instagram after Jan 16. I hope something changes,” said Khloe Kardashian Odom.

Kevin Systrom, co-founder of Instagram published a followup statement the very next day via their blog and continues to make it the first thing one sees, when opening the app.

In the clearest of layman’s terms, it reads,β€œIt was interpreted by many that we were going to sell your photos to others without any compensation, this is not true and it is our mistake that this language is confusing. To be clear: It is not our intention to sell your photos. We are working on updated language in the terms to make sure this is clear.”

Allowing us to continue publishing our loved ones, wether they want to or not. Those sunsets we find nearly impossible to look away from…so we ❀ them. Exposing, choreographing and sharing tid bits of our idiosyncratic routine with creative flair and the right combination of #hashtags, can now possibly result in a vertical career move. Social Media has changed how we see things in our everyday life, and allow us to share with whomever is willing to look……………at what we had for dinner.
